T-Mobile has announced its second Android-based mobile phone, the G1 Touch.

The G1 Touch has a 5-megapixel camera and a touchscreen that slides out to reveal a Qwerty-keypad.

It will be launched in the UK in mid-July and can be picked up for free provided you sign up to a £40 per month contract.

The G1 Touch, made by HTC and called the HTC Hero in some markets, is the second handset from T-Mobile based on Google's Android operating system, after the T-Mobile G1 which was launched in September 2008.

T-Mobile revealed ambitious targets for getting its customers onto Android-based handsets.

Richard Warmsley of T-Mobile said: "With two strong contenders to choose from, we expect that one in five T-Mobile mobile internet users will have Android-powered devices by the end of the year, which we will be able to support on our award-winning mobile internet network."
