Record Patch Tuesday for Microsoft

Microsoft's monthly patch roll-out will be its biggest ever, with fixes for 34 vulnerabilities being issued.

Microsoft issues fixes for 34 flaws

Microsoft will issue 13 patches to fix 34 vulnerabilities in its software this week, making it the biggest 'Patch Tuesday' on record.

Eight of the vulnerabilities are rated as 'critical', and programs affected include the Internet Explorer browser, Microsoft Office, Silverlight as well as the Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems.

The 'critical' rated vulnerabilities could allow a hacker to take control of your computer from a remote location and it is recommended that you install the updates as soon as possible.

You can either configure your PC to download the updates automatically or visit the Windows Update and manually download and apply the patches.

Microsoft regularly issues updates for its software on the second Tuesday of each month, hence the nickname 'Patch Tuesday'.
