Today is Safer Internet Day with the aim of promoting young people's awareness about safe surfing throughout the world.
The event backed by the European Commission will see over 65 organisations participating in 30 countries from Australia to Iceland and from Russia to Singapore.
In Europe the day will be hosted by Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission responsible for Information Society. The day is organised by Insafe, the European network of national internet safety awareness nodes.

Events taking place in the UK include a conference on young people's use of mobile technology and the launch of an Insafe story-telling competition for pupils.
