Kerry beats Bush in website race September 2, 2004 Marc Ambasna-Jones
UK interest in November's US presidential election is being registered on the web with John Kerry proving more popular than rival George Bush.
Kerry's site had a 2.34 per cent share of visits to political sites in the UK compared to 0.99 per cent for the Bush site, according to the latest figures from online watcher Hitwise.
The research company claims that UK interest in Bush's rival has been steadily increasing during the past two months, with the Kerry site overtaking the official George W. Bush website in mid-July.
“Currently, John Kerry's website is receiving more than double the traffic of the Bush website in the UK, with more than one in fifty visits to websites in the Politics category investigating the policies and campaign news offered on Kerry's site,” said a Hitwise statement.
Other US sites to feature in the UK's Top Politics Sites list, include Michael Moore's site, which also beats Bush with a 1.79 per cent share, spoof site Jib Jab with 1.57 per cent and The Truth Laid Bear with 2.45 per cent.
The top two sites in the list are the British National Party with 5.6 per cent and Guardian Unlimited Politics with 5.3 per cent.
