MSN wants surfers to sing up May 23, 2003 Veronique De Freitas
MSN has launched an online competition to find the best emoticon song title, in celebration of this weekend's Eurovision song contest.
To take part in the MSN Messenger Karaoke contest, you need to come up with a song title that can be illustrated by emoticons (smiley etc).
The person to think of the most original, quirky and clever song title will win the Top 20 chart albums, with four runners-up winning the Top 10 chart albums.
Tracy Blacher, marketing manager at MSN, said: "Everyone loves a bit of distraction during the day. The combination of MSN Messenger - a bit of instant mischief - and Eurovision, means that Messenger Karaoke is a new phenomenon set to spread like wild fire."
According to MSN, its instant messaging service and contests such as Messenger Karaoke are set to take over from SMS as the latest craze. It predicts that by April 2004 there will be more instant messages sent everyday than SMS messages.
