Glastonbury ticket site proves a hit
June 17, 2003
Veronique De Freitas

A website for people to sell or buy spare tickets for this year's Glastonbury festival has proved popular on the net.

Scarlet Mist, developed by festival goer Richard Marks to fight ticket touts, is attracting around 150,000 visitors a day and has so far seen over 100 tickets exchanged online.

Richard Marks told Web User: "The site has worked out very well, and the folk running the festival are dead pleased. It's a great service for festival goers, it helps keeps the ticket touts off the streets."

Scarlet Mist, which raises money for the charities that Glastonbury supports, will now cover other UK music festivals including Reading and Leeds.

"The aim is to establish Scarlet Mist as the place where all music festival tickets can be exchanged, at short notice, bypassing the touts," said Marks.

Freeserve and music website PlayLouder will be streaming performances live online from Glastonbury from  27 to 29 June 2003. Radiohead, REM and Moby are the official headliners of the Glastonbury festival.
