iPhone 2.2 update lost on UK
November 21, 2008
Web User

The iPhone could stifle innovation, an academic has claimed The flagship feature of Apple's updated software for the iPhone is of little benefit to customers in the UK.

iPhone version 2.2 features the inclusion of Google Street View, a feature within Google Maps that has not yet been rolled out in the UK.

So far, Google has not issued a date for when Street View will be launched in the UK, though its photography cars have been spotted up and down the country.

However, other enhancements to maps in iPhone 2.2 include directions for those of us who don't have a car and use public transport or our own two feet instead.

Directions for public transport and walking have been included, as has the ability for you to be able to share your location via email.

Other changes include improvements to the email function, including improved HTML formatting, and the availability of podcasts in the iTunes Wi-Fi store.

Apple also said that the stability and performance of Safari, the iPhone's browser, had been improved.
