Monopoly players aim for record
August 27, 2008
Web User

Monopoly Monopoly players around the world are attempting to set a record today for the most people playing the game at any one time.

In London, players will congregate on the cobblestones of the Piazza in Covent Garden at 1500BST. There will be other events around the world at the same time.

"As one of city's most iconic locations, Covent Garden features on the current London edition of Monopoly, so we are pleased to host the UK part of this global Monopoly world record attempt," said Covent Garden London's brand director, Bev Churchill.

Games will take place on a variety of formats including mobile phones, games consoles, the web and traditional boards.

You can join in by visiting the Pogo.co.uk website and taking part in an online game.

Earlier this year, Monopoly players around the world were asked to take place in an online vote to choose the cities that would feature in the first-ever international edition of the game.

London unsurprisingly made the final 22, along with Montreal, Paris, New York, Sydney, Riga, Kyiv and Taipei, among others.
