Gary Dean, a Lancashire businessman, has created a one-page website spelling out the details of his £3.7m divorce settlement.

He said the site, titled The Truth About: Helen Louis Dean - V- Gary Dean, was intended to combat a "bad case of Chinese Whispers" about the apparent 'miserly' settlement of his divorce last year.

Explaining why he went to the effort of constructing the site, Mr Dean writes: "I have created this stand-alone website for one reason and one reason alone – so that the TRUTH about my divorce settlement is available to anyone who wants to know about it."

Mr Dean goes on to say that he has been cast a villain "a greedy, tight, ruthless bastard who abandoned my wife and children, walking off with millions and leaving my family almost destitute" and set up the website to dispute these accusations.

"Now for all those of you out there who have wanted to gossip about what I did and did not have to pay - you need to speculate no more," Mr Dean said.
