BT's golden couple to split?
July 15, 2008
Web User

BT Total Broadband Anywhere The 21st Century's answer to the Nescafe couple, BT's Adam and Jane, could be about to split.

A new advertising campaign will see Adam move out of the home he shares with Jane and her two children to take a dream job.

The advert will poke fun at a fictional, rival broadband provider, with Adam's wireless router failing as he discusses his long-term future with Jane on instant messenger.

"The ad highlights the importance of a reliable wireless connection and leaves you at a crucial point in the Adam and Jane story, wondering what will happen next," said Matthew Dearden, marketing director at BT Retail Consumer.

Adam is played by Kris Marshall, who first came to prominence starring alongside Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wannamaker in My Family.

Jane is played by Esther Hall, who appeared in the first two series of BBC spy drama Spooks as well as Waking the Dead.

BT has spent £10m on the campaign, intended to promote its new Home Hub which will begin on 19 July.

BT has also announced that it is to roll out fibre-optic network in the UK by 2012.
