A Canadian television maker has turned to the internet to help finance his big-screen romantic comedy.
Casey Walker, a reality TV director, has set up a special website, www.mymilliondollarmovie.com, selling frames of the film.
Walker, 32, hopes to raise $1m (just over £500,000) to make Free For All... But You! by selling the frames for $10 a piece once it has been made.
In exchange for the frames, investors get a film credit, advertisement rights on the site and, if the film is a hit, a share of the profits.
On the site Walker explains that he has a great script and wants to make a movie.
"Unfortunately, movies aren't cheap and aren't easy to finance. I've developed this concept of democratic fundraising because I don't know any studio executives or Hollywood power brokers who would help me get this made," he adds.
Walker wants the site and movie process to be interactive and educational.
Investors, or producers as Walker calls them, will be kept abreast of the film-making process through his blog and video podcasts. He'll explain things like the role of a gaffer and the difference between a 'Window' shot and a 'Martini' shot.
With 17,929 frames sold he has raised about $180,000 (about £90,000) but there are still 126,071 more up for grabs. So far the website has attracted investors from 18 different countries.
