Microsoft has unveiled a number of changes to its Live Search application to help searchers find more relevant results.
Changes have been made to ensure searchers are presented with the appropriate web pages, images and videos, Microsoft said.
The focus is very much on providing relevant results as "if you don't get the relevance right, the rest of the stuff is just icing," Microsoft's Cynthia Crossley told Web User.
Crossley said that as recent research showed that the average reading level of UK surfers is quite low, there has been an effort to make the search engine understand abbreviations and mis-spellings.
Image searches have been improved by presenting them all on one page, with an "infinite scroll" facility, letting you simply scroll down through images rather than having to wait for new pages to load.
Microsoft has also integrated Multimap, the service it bought late last year, with its own Live Maps service.
Searching the web on your mobile promises to be easier as well, according to Microsoft, as it uses triangulation to automatically figure out your location to provide you with the most relevant results.
