Birmingham City Council will broadcast the local elections live over the internet for the first time this year.
The election on 1 May in Europe's largest local authority will include coverage of results streamed live on the web as well as interviews, analysis and results.
Chief executive and returning officer Stephen Hughes said: "In an increasingly digital age it is ever more important we seek out new and innovative methods through which to keep the citizens of Birmingham and beyond up to date with all our latest news and developments."
Hughes said election night is one of the most important nights of the year for the people of Birmingham as it has a direct impact on the future of the city.
The web coverage will be hosted by local writer and broadcaster Adrian Goldberg.
Londoners also go to the polls on 1 May in the mayoral election. However, a spokesman from London Elects told Web User that there will be no live streaming but the results will be posted online.
