Online retailer Amazon may be about to branch out into the wine market.
A jposition advertised on the Amazon website, posted on 28 February, is for a senior wine buyer.
"Amazon.com's Consumables division is looking for a Senior Buyer, to purchase wine for our Specialty Foods group," the advert said.
The job, which is based in Seattle, requires a "deep and broad experience with the wine segment," according to the ad, and the successful candidate "should expect to travel as much as 75 per cent of their time during peak periods".
Amazon told Web User that it did not comment on future plans and said that reports tabout Amazon moving into the wine market were "purely speculation".
However, even if Amazon does add this new product line in the US, that doesn't mean it'll necessarily come to the UK as well.
Amazon sells music downloads in the US market and, although it is reported to be planning to do so in the UK as well, there is no firm information about the service or confirmation of when it might launch.
