Visitors to Polish websites from the UK have increased ninefold in two years, new research reveals.
According to Hitwise, which monitors internet traffic, the volume of visitors to Polish language websites increased by 805 per cent between January 2006 and January 2008.
Google Poland is currently the most popular Polish site among UK web users, accounting for nearly 30 per cent of all visits to the top 100 Polish websites.
"Google Poland is extremely popular in the UK," said Robin Goad, Director of Research at Hitwise. "Google is the most-visited website in the UK, so comparing usage of the different Google country sites is a good way of understanding internet usage patterns."
YouTube Poland as well as the Polish version of Wikipedia were among the top 10 most-visited Polish sites in the UK in January 2008.
Wizz Air, a budget airlines, was the fourth most popular Polish site in January receiving more UK internet visits than established airlines like American Airlines and Lufthansa.
Visitors to Polish websites are spread out across the UK with Scotland and the South-East experiencing the heaviest traffic.
