Tennis searches dampened down July 4, 2007 Web User
Tennis-related searches have been hit by the lack of action at a rain-soaked Wimbledon.
The tournament looks as if it will have to run into next week and men's doubles' matches are to be reduced from five to three sets.
If that wasn't bad enough, surfers aren't as keen as they were for tennis-related information this time last year, according to internet monitoring firm Hitwise.
However, searches pertaining to tennis are higher than those for this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the Tour de France, which begins in London on Saturday.
Searches for "Wimbledon" are down 19 per cent from last year but are three times higher than searches for "Silverstone" and five times higher than for "Tour de France".
