Firefox gets eBay add-on
May 8, 2007
Ben Camm-Jones

Firefox Managing your eBay bids and sales could be made easier by the introduction of a new add-on for the Firefox browser.

Including a sidebar tha allows you to see at-a-glance the items you have bid on and which is updated in real time, as well as status alerts that will let you know when you have been outbid, the Firefox Companion for eBay is available to download for free.

Christopher Beard, vice president of products and marketing at Mozilla, said: "By helping eBay users stay connected to their auctions wherever they are on the web, Mozilla and eBay are delivering enhancements to Firefox that help our mutual users have an even better online experience.”

Firefox is an open-source internet browser and popular alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The Firefox Companion for eBay is still in beta, but has been released to the wider web community for feedback and testing.

Another feature in the Firefox Companion for eBay is built-in anti-phishing technology.

“eBay has always strived to offer its users an easy and safe online trading experience and the Firefox Companion for eBay is an innovative development to support this effort,” said Torsten Schuppe, head of interactive marketing at eBay UK.
