Boo.com makes an online return May 2, 2007 Claire Woffenden
Boo.com, a name associated with one of the world's highest-profile dot com failures, makes its online return today as a travel website.
The domain name was originally used for a European online clothing retailer, which collapsed in May 2000 despite millions of pounds of investment.
Today Boo.com, now owned by a completely different company, is a site promising to make it as easy and quick as possible for people to search, compare and book travel online.
Web Reservations, the company behind the new website, claims it is unconcerned with the domain name's infamy.
“Boo.com is a short, catchy domain that works across multiple languages,” said Ray Nolan, chief executive of Web Reservations, the company behind Boo.com. “Our aim is to list every single hotel we can and provide the tools to narrow your search down to a small relevant shortlist as quickly as you can.”
Boo.com describes itself as a site combining search engine functionality, pricing, reviews and social networking all in one place. Visitors can share views and advice on hotels, bars, restaurants and sightseeing and book accomodation directly with a hotel's website.
