Surfers go Gaga for music downloads

UK surfers have an enormous appetite for digital music and Lady Gaga's Poker Face is our favourite track, according to statistics.

Surfers go Gaga for music downloads

Lady Gaga's Poker Face is the most downloaded digital music track since records began, according to figures from the Official Charts Company.

The track has been downloaded more than 779,000 times and another of her songs, Just Dance, stands third in the list with around 700,000 downloads.

The meat in the Lady Gaga sandwich is the Kings Of Leon's Sex On Fire, with the American band also taking fourth place with Use Somebody.

The top-placed British act in the list is La Roux with In For The Kill in fifth place.

X-Factor winner Leona Lewis features twice in the top 10 with Bleeding Love and her cover of Snow Patrol's Run. Snow Patrol themselves are in ninth place with Chasing Cars.

It is estimated that digital sales now account for 98 per cent of the singles market and the increasing popularity of downloads is underlined by the fact that the top five tracks in the chart are all less than a year old.
