CD Rom won't play

  • Mon, 6 Apr 2009

My computer refuses to play any type of CD-Roms. It plays music CDs, and movie DVDs without any problems, but not software. What can I do?

These are straightforward  problems that are easily fixed and it's just
a few configuration options that need changing. Open AutoPlay in the
Control Panel and you'll see a list of media and devices.

Next to each
one is the action to take and if you check Software and Games you'll
probably find that it is set to No Action.

Set it to either run
software automatically or ask you what you want to do. To enable
hibernation (not all PCs are capable), click Start, All Programs,
Accessories. Right click Run and choose Run as administrator. Enter: powercfg -h on.
