How do I switch ClearType off?

ClearType is technology designed to improve the readability of text on existing LCD monitors.

To switch ClearType off, first right-click the Desktop and choose Personalize, then click on Window Color and Appearance.

Now select ‘Open classic appearance properties for more color options’ and in the Appearance Settings window, click the Effects button.

Uncheck the box for ‘Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts’ with ClearType in the drop-down list.
