Tube worker resigns following Twitter campaign

Twitter protests force an abusive London Underground worker to quit his job.

A Transport for London employee caught on video abusing a member of the public has apologised and resigned after Mayor Boris Johnson called for an official investigation on Twitter. Ian Morbin worked as a Customer Service Assistant on London Underground. Morbin's rant at the elderly passenger, whose arm had earlier been caught in a carriage door, was recorded and posted on YouTube. It has received over 10,000 viewings so far. Boris Johnson wrote a response on Twitter which read: "Appalled by the video. Have asked TfL to investigate urgently. Abuse by staff is never acceptable." Hundreds of Twitterers then re-tweeted the post or posted their own complaints on the social-networking site. In the video below, Morbin calls the elderly man a "jumped up little git" and swore at him before threatening to "sling him under a train".
