I've just re-read your very first post in this thread and I should have read it properly first time. You didn't actually have 2 icons did you? You had one icon and then the 'Start, Programs' route. So basically all my waffle about two icons was exactly that - waffle.
I think the best thing to do is start listening to younger people like Madeline and ignore oldies like me,
