Burr, have checked the line speed - 40.3kbps 4.8 k/bytes/sec. That appears my average.
I'll check out the other advice tomorrow (Monday) regarding shared line. I shall be as always, most polite, thanks for alerting me all the same.
I never open IE when connecting via 'Connect to', I wait until balloon tells me I'm connected. I may wish to check out OE beforehand.
Greysts - have checked Properties of both icons and they are identical in each category, should that be the norm?
For the record, I have now connected via BTYahoo (or BTOWAnytime) icon since taking a break after posting my problem. This time all was well, the logon page came straight in.
