Thanks for all your help, it has made things a bit clearer. I've just had another look at the two hosting packages and they both include PHP support, but only one has the mysql.

I've tried having forums before - a remotely hosted one without ads - it was good, although a bit slow, just a shame the people weren't so good. Therefore, I am unlikely to want forums again, so do I really need the MySql? Could I manage with just the PHP if I were to want something later?
