Thanks for the replies but alas they don't work. There are no suspects identified by the device manager so nothing to remove and it doesn't matter how many times I've installed/uninstalled/closed down/rebooted, the same problem remains. When I access the device manager and check that the modem has installed and check the properties of the new modem the device manager says "No drivers are installed for this device" and that is despite using the installation disk and/or running the set-up using a downloaded zip file from the Speedtouch website. The question is Why don't drivers install?. Again I've been onto Freeserve and now they are suggesting that I purchase a PCI card because the chip set-up is being questioned (USB 2.0 Root hub). Does that suggestion make sense? Anyone again, please shed some light.
