For a scam to work (and I haven't done one, so don't worry) I'd imagine they need to have the emails redirected to them and also have a different address available to buyers. Point this out to eBay to check the details with the listings. I once got caught when I replied to an eBay email, only it wasn't, was it?
Within the next 24 hours my account sent out the maximum number of emails it could to people bidding on electrical goods in the US offering them cheaper alternatives. Although the email contained instructions to the buyer to not reply to the email, but to a link in it, some did (most asking me what I could offer!).
Anyway, I told eBay and within hours my account was sorted. I was quite impressed.
The thing to bear in mind is that at the minute to eBay you DO owe the money. Annoyance and anger should be directed at the person pulling the scam. Try to work with eBay and see what happens.
-------------------- I loved my grandmother very much.......and she fetched a good price on eBay.
