The fact that the right hand column is empty doesn't mean anything. I have SP2 installed and it doesn't even show up in add/remove. To confirm whether you have SP2 installed or not , click on start > right click on "my computer" > properties. In the box that appears it should look something like this:

System

Microsoft windows XP
Home edition
Version 2002
Service pack 2 .

What happens when you try........system restore may be corrupt ( result of a virus for example).
