Thats helped a little but there are still loads of delays.
From the Welcome screen to the point I can click on the Start button without the egg timer appearing is about 6mins. Then when the Start menu does open if I click on an app I get the egg timer for 10 -15 secs then a further delay of about 20 secs before the app opens.
Opening a window/folder also gives a 5 sec delay before it's shown on screen then a further delay while each of the containing item icons appear one at a time.
When I close a window/folder the PC almost freezes, after a delay the window will close but leaves a 'ghost image' of itself on any window/folder that was behind it, then there's a 15sec delay where the system is frozen and unusable, the closed window/folder will remain shown on the task bar for a further 10 secs after the system 'recovers'.
It's almost as if there's something running in the back ground thrashing the CPU + memory, I've checked with Task Manager to see what else is running but that all looks normal. In safe mode the system runs perfectly, no delays, nice and fast.
Specs for system are: AMD 64bit 2.2 Dual Core, nVidia 7600GS gfx card, 3gig Ram, 160gig HDD.
