OK, so the position is you cannot use the automatic scanning faility and you don't have a record of the Computer Model Number. Are you sure about that? maybe you have the original paperwork/receipt in a drawer somewhere?

Try downloading the Belarc Adviser and run that. If it runs it will give you all the information. Heres the link:
