excellent signal strength but pages don't come up

I'm from the US, and I really don't know much about computers and especially don't know a whole lot about wi-fi. I have a DSL modem and two computers are hooked up directly to the modem through ethernet cables. The third computer is a laptop which is connected to a wireless router which is connected to the modem through ethernet cable. The third computer has excellent signal strength if we use the wireless network 'attached to' the router, but pages do not display. If we connect to the wireless network 'attached to' the modem the signal strength is very poor but pages will come up (just very slowly). I'm afraid to move the router closer to the third computer because that might affect the signal strength of a wii that also needs access to the internet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I understand a little about how wireless networks work, but you'll have to be fairly basic. Thank you!
