Sometimes I wonder why I bother to reply. You don’t need to open any files, simply right-click and rename the folder as I said above. Hopefully you haven't made the corruption any worse.
To make it even simpler for you, I’ll list every action you have to take:
1. First of all we (you) are going to move the OE store location to an easier to-get-at location and remove the hidden attribute by: - Open My Documents, File > New > Folder and name it Mail Folder. Go to Outlook Express > Tools > Options > Maintenance Tab and click on Store Folder and browse/change it to point to the new folder (Mail Folder). - Close Outlook Express and the mail boxes will be in the new location. You may have to open/close OE twice.
2. Open My Documents, double-click Mail Folder, right-click FOLDERS.DBX (capitals for clarity only) > Rename and type FOLDERS.OLD, click OK. If the folder is ‘Read only’ right-click it > Properties and remove the attribute, then rename it.
3. Now restart Outlook Express and check if (some of) your emails have appeared.
