combofix removed these nasties :-
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Cache
C:\WINDOWS\system32\FTPx.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MabryObj.dll
no harm but if i was relying on NORTON for my security i would be a nervous wreck.
if it is still slow at start up try this :-
download and run startup inspector
make sure you read the instructions.
It will tell you what is running at startup and what can be safely removed, and will allow you to remove the unnecessary entries.
