If you run the scanner at the crucial site it will tell you what and how much RAM you can install in that machine. I just increased mine from 512 to 1250 and I may increase that shortly to 2 Gig. Certainly you need a minimum of 512 MB.

I always use "about:blank"
Open Internet Explorer Tools | Internet Options
Use blank.
Bear in mind the first time you load your home page it downloads all those images and that takes time.
Let me know if you need further assistance on this.
also post the issue on the other computer and we'll see if we can come up with a solution
