I am just running a complete scan on both my Vista laptop (which has the paid for version of AVG) and my desktop (the free version). The laptop has so far been running for 45 minutes and has scanned 1,047,034 objects!! Now I know I haven't got over a million files on that machine so it is clearly scanning every single entry in the registry along with files, directories and who knows what else. The desktop scan has been running for 21 minutes and has so far scanned 705,045 objects.
The Vista scan has found nothing so far but the desktop scan appears to found loads of adware and tracking cookies.
I shall await with interest the final result.
