In simple terms, wmp 11 is more secure than version 9 and you can change the look of it so it looks like an older version.

I mainly use wmp to do boring stuff like watch the odd dvd, play the cd's etc. and my son uses it to synchronise music to his mp3 and all the other stuff teenagers like to do when thier parents are out of the room all without any problems.

But to be honest you really should upgrade your wmp purely because it is so old and is therefore more vulnerable, but that's just me, I'm sure some of our other members who use wmp for a lot more than I do will be able to guide you better.
