keyboard problem

i have an IB THINKPAD T40 .problem im having is that my little bro did SOMETHING so that when i click "l"it comes out 3 and a couple of other buttons are like that.how do i revert it to its original function of writing what it says on the button?any help would be greatly appreciated.
