This sounds to me as though you have removed more than a keyboard driver. If it is only a keyboard problem, even a special keyboard, plugging in a different one should solve it

The first thing to do is to run chkdsk to eliminate any disk errors. So, boot from the WinXP CD, choose Repair and when you get the prompt type chkdsk /r (note the space) and press Enter.
