Wireless keeps disconnecting

I'm with Virgin broadband ( from its NTL days so use an NTL modem ) and have for a couple of years enjoyed trouble free wireless internet on my PC using a Belkin router and dongle to connect. I use WEP security and allow Belkins software to connect me up to the network. All was fine until I moved in with GF and now its 50/50 whether I can connect to internet or not. When not I used to right click the TV screens bottom right of moniter and click on repair which always put the thing right but now 90% of time this doesn't work. Sometimes I cannot connect at all. I've tried to connect to the wifi signal on my laptop and my sons laptop as well as my stepdaughters PC without success even though I know I'm entering the correct WEP passkey. My own PC will often show a connection with good signal strength and the TV screens show a connection but I cannot get onto the Net - often there is a message saying the PC is trying to acquire an IP address but this takes ages before timing out. I've tried rebooting PC, modem and router without success. If I hardwire a computer directly into the wireless router using an ethernet cable it works everytime faultlessly so Ii don't think router or modem are faulty. I'm not sure where to start really. I want to have my PC connecting to wireless internet everytime like it used to and also allow everybody elses in the house to connect too. Don't need to use wireless printer or other devices. Before I reset my router back to factory settings and try again can anyone suggest something else to try or check? Thanks.
