Problem with AOL's new welcome screen?

Is anyone else having problems with AOL's new welcome screen? My Packard Bell laptop running Windows XP just doesn't want to know. I need to scroll down around a dozen screens worth to see everything on the one page, no pictures are displayed, the tabs are missing and, worse of all, clicking on any of the links produces a new window with nothing in it.
AOL's suggestions have all been useless, they finally suggested ending all but a small handfull of processes to try and identify the problem.
I have the same problem whether I connect via Internet Explorer or via the AOL V9 software running on the laptop.
Any assistance will be gratefully received!
