Bt broadband & Office 2007

Hi can someone help? I have got bt broadband. When i am logged on and using the Internet it some time tells me I am not connected anyone know why this happens? I am also running office 2007 and when I try to open outlook and send/receive mail a box comes up and tells me a object is missing? How do I find what is missing?
