Thanks for the reply it was my son who said it was slow and I have to agree with him that it is.
Anyway I inserted the floppy disk and re-booted it off she went but stopped on the DOS screen after several seconds with the following showing:
No Bootable cd in atapi cd-rom booting from removable media staring windows millenium emergency boot..

cdr101: not ready reading drive x abort, retry, fail.
Any ideas as to what is the potential issue here or how to resolve it so that it can continue to do the default restore.
