Need to transfer large files between 2 computer.. quick & easy

I have networked my computer & my laptop & from time to time i have to transfer lasrge files back & forth. I do this by opening windows explorer, my network places, locate the computer to transfer the file to & copy paste the file, which takes ages.
Is there a faster or quicker way ? is there any program that will easily locate the network & also transfer files.

PS : am using win xp pro on my comp & win xp home on laptop
