I.m not a fan of Microsoft's Defender. I suggest you use the same AntiSpyware programs as i do.
AVG AntiSpyware. Download and install the FREE version.
Spybot Search and Destroy ( free ). Download and install.
Once downloaded check for updates ,run scans ( both programs ), and remove any nasties. After that it's a case of running both apps , say once a week ( always checking for updates before using ). Run both apps .
You could also download and install....SpywareBlaster ( free ) This is not a scanner , but a program that prevents all sorts of nasties installing themselves on your pc. After the initial set up it will run quietly in the background and all you need to do is regularly check for updates.
A question for you billyboy : Which Norton product are you using and how long before it's license expires. ?
