Don't disable the router firewall, I meant your software one!
The 2304Kbps is the theoretical maximum speed of downloading. You may find this varies from time to time. Some routers take a little while to settle down to a consistent speed.
Also the MTU may need altering, have a look here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/MTU.htm
