A play list is just that, a list. It's like a list of CD/tracks on your shelf, setting out where on the shelf the tracks are located.
You can give the list to your friend but it will bear no relation to what's on the shelf at their house, they would have to come to your house and get the track off your shelf to listen to them.
Even if you take the list into another room in your own house (your laptop) the list is meaningless.
