There's no idiot's guide as such , just , as you have found , various posts with others suggestions/thoughts. Don't know about you but whenever i uninstall anything from my pc it's a case of (a) add/remove programs followed by (b) Windows search facility for any remaining files (c) Manual search for anything windows search may have missed , and finally (d)Into the registry to delete all relevant entries.
Obviously (a) is straightforward , (b) pretty simple but need to be sure that what you're removing belongs to the application you are uninstalling , and , that it's removal won't affect any other app (c) basically the same as (b), and last but not least (d) the registry........one mistake here and you can find yourself with big problems. Only attempt the manual method if you REALLY know what you're doing. Alternative is a registry cleaner. They can go wrong but most have the option to back up before you make any changes.
All in all it's a case of leave things as they are , or.......get stuck in and go for it. .
Oh!!! hello there mouse , it's been a while , i see you've beat me to it.
