OK I tried from the link (did this a while back with same results)
It went for a few mins then stopped and said:

It was not possible to complete setup
WMP 11 was not installed
To update windows run WMP11 setup again

I suspect there is some kind of corruption somewhere that is preventing WMP11 and IE7 to intall but dunno enough to fig out what or how.

I did try and uninstall WMP10 and IE7 and reinstall them and the later versions but that was not successful either.

Appreciate any advice.
