What to buy (laptop advice needed please!!)

Hi. I have about £400 to spend on a laptop so that I can finally give in and hand the desktop to the kids once and for all!! I know it's not much to spend but I've noticed so many great deals out there. Thing is I don't know what's a good deal and what's not. I want it wirelessly enabled and plenty of USB ports. I will be using it for surfing the net, chatting and playing games mainly and possibly to watch DVD's. I just don't have a clue where to start!
Any advise gratefully received!!!
