12 months ago i always got 7.6Mbps never any problems, since then my b.b. connection has gradually got worse now 160Kbps is normal! I get disconnected if the phone rings then have to keep dialing 1471 then eventually my modem comes back & allows me to connect. I have recently discovered that if i am on the phone and connect to B.B. i get much better speeds - 3.3MBps while talking to BT today! but loose the connection as soon as the call is terminated.
peak time does not appear to be a factor, i kept a log of speeds & disconnections for a week but could not see any correlation. I have replaced the extension lead with a new lead direct from socket to computer, replaced the splitter, removed anything on my hard drive, expanded my ram to 1GB, had my line checked by BT. i removed the faceplate & used test socket to connect using both my analogue cordless phone and a corded phone and was unable to connect to B.B. at all after i replaced the face plate it took me 45 mins of dialing 1471 & disconnecting to get my B.B. connection but i did get a whole 2.5Mbps for a couple of hours. when I disconnected & reconnected this went down to 1.8Mbps and this morning i was back to 160Kbps again. When i spoke to B.T today they said thier test shows the line is fine & to contact my ISP, my ISP say the problem is with B.T. Does anyone know what could cause the problems i am getting?? thanks for reading Sue
